StrojMachine ( Slovenia )

StrojMachine combines powerful and complex rhythms with extraordinary ‘handmade’ noises, astonishing sounds of self-made blowing and string instruments together with spectacular lightning, all in relation with high technologies of the future. Their music brings us unique and futuristic sound, an exciting mixture of industrial, techno, rock, ethnic and jazz influences, played and performed with heavy, rusty and strange looking instruments and ‘noisers’. In their eleven years of activity they performed several great industrial performances, in home country (Slovenia) and abroad, they found their way into theatre and film and they attained almost everything, possible for a group of such an individual expression to attain.

ARIM BAGGILI QUINTET ( Belgium )

This talented and passionate musician has appeared on stage for years playing solo or in duets with a repertoire composed of personal compositions. This is based mainly on the different Spanish traditional rhythms (Bulerias, Alegrias, rumba, and tango), the techniques of the guitar flamenco, and the sonorities of the Middle East through the Arabic lute (oud). Today, he performs with three exceptional musicians and a singer in his new band “Karim Baggili Quintet”. His group was born while meeting musicians of different horizons. The compositions created since then are thought out and written specifically for these new optics. Although a new group, they hold promise for a very bright future.

Gipsy.cz ( Czech Republic )

Gipsy.cz exploded on the Czech music scene and the borders between world music, gypsy music, hip hop and pop were broken for the first time here this year. Radoslav Banga, aka Gipsy was born in Prague where he lived as a street kid from the age of 13, when he got in touch with hip-hop and rap. After working with local bands like Syndrom Snopp he developed his style of Romano hip-hop, combining Roma rhythms and language with the 200bpm music played by Balkan brass bands. Gipsy has colaborated and performed with various well-known artists. He has played as a guest with the Boban Markovic Orkestar, shared the stage with GZA, played the main Czech festivals, the Karneval der Kulturen in Berlin and several concerts in Berlin’s Kaffee Burger.
